This week Berger Excavating began excavation for road widening, installed storm sewer and chlorinated water main on Chestnut Ave.  Additionally, Berger Excavating began removal of curb, sidewalk and driveway pavement on the west side of Waukegan Rd.  Berger's concrete subcontractor was also onsite this week installing sidewalk from Woodlawn Ave. north to Chestnut Ave.

Early next week, Berger Excavating is scheduled to continue curb, sidewalk, and driveway pavement removal on the west side of Waukegan Rd. and water service installation on Chestnut Ave.  Later next week, Berger will begin storm sewer installation on the west side of Waukegan Rd.  Additionally, Berger's concrete subcontractor is scheduled to install curb and gutter on Jefferson Ave. mid to late next week.

This week Berger Excavating repaired a sanitary sewer main from the east side of Waukegan Road to the center of Waukegan Road.  The remainder of this sanitary sewer repair will be made when construction operations have switched to the west side of Waukegan Road.  Berger Excavating also completed water main installation on Chestnut Ave.  Additionally, Berger’s concrete subcontractor, Berquist & Zimmerman, continued curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway installation on the east side of Waukegan Road from Woodlawn Ave. north to approximately 150 feet south of Ammer Road.

Next week Berger Excavating will pressure test and chlorinate the new water main on Chestnut Ave.  Berquist & Zimmerman will continue concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk installation on the east side of Waukegan Road.  Also, next week Berger’s asphalt subcontractor, Peter Baker & Sons, will  be onsite installing asphalt driveways and asphalt base course between the edge of the existing pavement and the new curb.  During driveway paving operations businesses will be restricted to one driveway until the asphalt has cooled off.  After completion of asphalt base course, Berquist & Zimmerman will complete all of the remaining sidewalk on the east side of Waukegan Road.

Late next week or the following week, Berger Excavating is scheduled to shift construction operations to the west side of Waukegan Road.  Construction operations on the west side of Waukegan Road will require daily lane closures similar to the work on the east side of Waukegan Road.  Thank you for your patience during construction.

Last week Berger Excavating completed gravel base course installation along the east side of Waukegan Rd. from Woodlawn Ave. to just south of Ammer Rd.  and along the north side of Jefferson Ave.  Berger Excavating also completed the installation of water main on Waukegan Rd.  Berger’s concrete subcontractor, Berquist & Zimmerman, began installation of curb and gutter along the east side of Waukegan Rd, as well.  Berquist & Zimmerman placed concrete across some driveways, but has left at least one driveway entrance/exit open to each business along the east side of Waukegan Rd.

This week, Berger Excavating is scheduled to begin installation of water main on Chestnut Ave.  Additionally, on Monday Berger is scheduled to replace a sanitary sewer line that crosses Waukegan Rd.  To complete the sanitary sewer work, Berger will be channelizing northbound and southbound traffic into 1 lane northbound and 1 lane southbound on Monday.  Berquist & Zimmerman  is scheduled to continue concrete curb and gutter, barrier curb and sidewalk installation along the east side of Waukegan Rd.  Finally, late this week or early the following week Berger’s asphalt contractor, Peter Baker & Sons, is scheduled to install the asphalt base course along the east side of Waukegan Rd.

This week Berger Excavating completed earth excavation and storm sewer installation along the east side of Waukegan Road.  Additionally, Berger Excavating installed the gravel base in the east leg of the intersection of Waukegan Rd. and Chestnut Ave.  The concrete subcontractor, Berquist & Zimmerman, was onsite this week installing curb and gutter and the asphalt subcontractor, Peter Baker & Sons, was onsite installing the asphalt binder course in the east leg of the intersection of Waukegan Rd. and Chestnut Ave.  The east leg of the intersection was opened for traffic on Friday morning.

Next week Berger Excavating is scheduled to install the gravel base along the east side of Waukegan Road in preparation for curb and gutter and asphalt associated with the roadway widening.  Additionally, Berger is scheduled to complete the remaining sanitary sewer repair on Waukegan Rd.  The concrete subcontractor is scheduled to install curb and gutter on Wednesday or Thursday of next week on the east side of Waukegan Rd. and if time allows Jefferson Ave.  During the installation of curb and gutter it will be necessary to close driveways to install the curb across the driveway entrance.  During this process, if a business has two driveways, one driveway will be closed at a time for approximately 1 week each.  If a business has only one driveway, then half of the driveway will be closed for approximately 1 week and then the other half will be closed for approximately 1 week.
